Abigale Lee Miller(born September 21, 1965) is an American dance instructor, choreographer and reality TV personality. Abby Lee Dance Company is her original creation and ran for eight seasons on Dance Moms. Miller confessed in June 2016 to felony bankruptcy fraud. Miller was sentenced on the 27th of June in 2016 to one year and one day in federal prison. Miller was released on February 27, 2018. In April 2018, she was diagnosed with lymphoma, that is a type of cancer that makes it difficult to walk. She now uses a wheelchair to get around. Miller grew up around dance in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania, located in a Pittsburgh suburb, studying under the tutelage of her mother at the Maryen Lorrain Dance Studio. Miller aged 14 at the time, was tasked with choreography and the coaching of one of her mother's dance teams. Miller was eventually able to take over the studio, renaming it Reign Dance Productions. Miller was certified by Dance Masters of America, and was a part of Dance Masters of Pennsylvania Chapter 10 (February 1986). However, DMA terminated her membership in February 2012 due to the fact that Miller's reality TV show Dance Moms was a "complete false representation of our teachers and students" and was detrimental to the profession.
